ANU Reigns on the Court

In a weekend packed with buzzer-beaters, fast breaks, and full-court passion, African Nazarene University (ANU) soared above the competition to claim the 2025 Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) men’s basketball title. With each match, ANU proved they weren’t just here to play — they came to court greatness.

The journey began with a tense quarterfinal against Mount Kenya University (MKU). In a match that had fans on the edge of their seats, ANU eked out a 55–53 win, showing nerves of steel in the dying minutes. It wasn’t pretty, but ANU made it clear: they had the bounce to go the distance.

The semi-final clash with Kabarak University was nothing short of electric. ANU drove their way to a dominant 60–43 win, overwhelming Kabarak with their relentless pace, tight defense, and silky shooting. It was clear — ANU wasn’t just surviving, they were coasting to the rim with purpose.

Then came the big dance: the finals on 30 March 2025 against United States International University Africa (USIU). The two powerhouses met in what felt like a clash of titans. USIU had been on fire, torching SU in the semis with a scorching 61–32 win. But ANU brought their A-game — and their A-team — delivering a performance worthy of the crown.

From the jump, ANU played like champions-in-waiting. Their ball movement was nothing but net, their defense tight enough to cause turnovers and frustration on the USIU side. Though USIU made a run late in the game, ANU stayed calm under pressure, hitting key buckets and free throws when it mattered most. The final score: 71–63.

The court turned into a sea of celebration. ANU players, drenched in sweat and triumph, knew they had boxed out the competition and claimed their place at the top of university hoops.

So here’s to ANU: the team that took the KUSF by storm.
