Field Goal

A field goal is any basket scored from the field, as opposed to a free throw.

Field goals can be worth two points or three points:

  • Two-Point Field Goal: A basket made from inside the three-point line
  • Three-Point Field Goal: A basket made from beyond the three-point line

Field goals can be made using various techniques, such as layups, slam dunks, jump shots, and hook shots. The ability to score field goals consistently is a crucial skill for players, and field goal percentage (the ratio of successful field goals to total attempts) is an important statistic used to measure a player’s shooting efficiency.
